Journalist Steve Sweeney on Ukraine war – a personal account on Victory Day

‘Those calling for the victory of Ukraine are trampling on the graves of the 27 million Soviet dead in WW2.’

Comrade Steve Sweeney, independent journalist and former international editor of the independent daily trade-union paper the Morning Star, speaks at our event to celebrate Victory Day on 9 May 2022.

Steve pays rousing tribute to the victory of the people of the USSR over fascism in WW2, and uses this historical backdrop to put in context his analysis of Nato’s proxy war being fought in Ukraine.

From his first-hand experience, Comrade Sweeney brings news of the situation on the ground in Donbass, the nature of the Ukrainian regime, and the attitude of the people of the Donbass to the Nazis of the Azov battalion and the stooge regime of Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev.

Overwhelmingly, the people of eastern Ukraine, engaged in an antifascist war of self-defence against the implanted EU/Nato regime, view the special military operation of Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States as a mission of liberation.
