On 27 January, the imperialists staged a pompous and hypocritical ceremony at the site of Nazi Germany’s Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, marking Holocaust Memorial Day and the 80th anniversary of the camp’s liberation.
Western politicians pumped out texts emoting over the (very real) suffering of the jews under the heel of fascist German imperialism from 1933-45, and went on to declare that this atrocity was the reason they needed to ‘stand with Israel’ 80 years later.
Britain’s King Charles was subtle, but typical. He told an audience at the Jewish Community Centre in Krakow: “In a world that remains full of turmoil and strife, and has witnessed the dangerous re-emergence of antisemitism, there can be no more important message – especially as the United Kingdom holds the presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.”
The IHRA is an organisation dedicated to the protection of Israel, not to stopping genocide. ‘Antisemitism’ is the best excuse yet found by imperialism for their attacks on the millions of workers who have been protesting against Israel’s genocide in Palestine – and who, by extension, are protesting against the whole system of imperialism. It is the cloak of victimhood donned by the imperialism’s zionist attack-dogs – and increasingly by the Anglo-American imperialists themselves.
Let us put aside the historical lag in this display of ‘solidarity’.
The elephants in the room, as the bourgeois politicians hypocritically intoned “Never again”, were glaring:
- Israel, on behalf of the US-led Nato imperialist camp, is committing a holocaust against Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, Yemenis and the wider Arab population. RIGHT NOW.
- Nato is fighting a genocidal war against Russia. RIGHT NOW. So much for ‘Never again’!
- It was the USSR and its Soviet Red Army which defeated Nazism, destroyed Hitler’s war machine and liberated Auschwitz. But Russia was not invited to the commemoration because Russia today is a primary target of the Nato imperialists.
- In order to fight its war against Russia, Nato has rehabilitated the very same fascists who committed a holocaust against jews and others during WW2.
- ‘President’ Volodymyr Zelensky, the USA’s handpicked frontman for today’s Banderite fascists, was invited to Auschwitz and stood shoulder to shoulder with the criminal Nato gang. Zelensky’s pals in the Azov, Kraken and SS Galician battalions proudly trace their lineage to Adolph Hitler and Stepan Bandera’s WW2 armies and Nazi ideology. Every victim of the Nazi holocaust, and all the rest of the war’s 60 million victims, must have given a collective shudder from the grave.
- It was Nazi Germany (rehabilitated as ‘west Germany’ by the US Marshall Plan and today standing at the heart of the European Union imperialist project) which carried out the WW2 holocaust – massacring in the process millions of jews, Roma, gay and disabled workers, trade unionists and communists, and a staggering 27 million Soviet citizens, the majority of whom were civilians. The same German financier class that backed Hitler’s genocidal project in the 1930s and 1940s is today involved in all imperialism’s colonial wars; it remains a genocidal power. Germany had pride of place at the ceremony.
- The United States of America and Great Britain (aka Anglo-American imperialism), and after them the European imperialists, are the chief agents of humanity’s misery, responsible for the deaths of 40 million human beings annually from malnutrition and malnutrition-related diseases, victims of imperialist superexploitation. This barbaric capitalist holocaust is going on daily, and will continue for as long as the capitalist-imperialist system reigns supreme.
- It is to keep this rapacious economic system in place that the imperialists launch neverending genocidal wars, accompanied by hypocritical talk about ‘human rights’, ‘democracy’ and ‘never [committing genocidal mass murder for profit] again’ … and all the rest of the dust they throw in the eyes of the international proletariat.
