Joti Brar and Garland Nixon: Palestine repression, Ukraine war, ep9

Britain sees its plummeting freedom of expression hit a new low as protestors are arrested, whilst Moscow survives an attack.

In this episode of Garland Nixon and Joti Brar, the discussion covers civil liberties, pertinently, on the arrest of Palestine solidarity activists in Britain. They also discuss the Ukraine war, including the Crocus attack in Moscow and the failure of the sanctions war; and ‘we’re broke’ – what counts as a real economy.

Comrades of the CPGB-ML were arrested but not charged for ‘inciting racial hatred’ – in reality, selling an antiracist and anti-zionist book on the history of Israel. Cases against our party members have now since dropped by the police.

There were two reasons for this. One was that bringing our party members to court would have allowed them to expose the reality of the genocide in Gaza and the hypocrisy of a state which targets those protesting against genocide rather than those who are assisting it. Moreover, such a court case would have brought publicity to the party. At a time when our analysis and message is resonating with growing numbers of British workers. This is something the ruling class is extremely anxious to avoid.
